Relationships are meant to show us who we are.
The closer you get, the more this other person—that is NOT you—will see you quirks and nuances and pet peeves from a neutral, third party perspective. They get to see you dwell on things you could have let go. They see how you process and what pisses you off.
So, if relationships show you you from someone else’s perspective, break-ups either have to do the same or the opposite. This break up did just that for me.
